Naira Bet Chief Executive Officer, Akin Alabi has expressed sadness with the current position of 3SC on the Nigeria Premier League log table and also on their current situation where both the chief coach and his assistant resigned almost at the same period over poor funding of the club.
Alabi said that he is very passionate about the club, saying that as a child he has always had a special interest in them. He therefore declared that he will do whatever within his power to help them survive their current situation.
“In spite of the recent happenings at Shooting Stars I’ll continue to show support, same way I have supported them since my childhood.
“If the Oyo state governor feels he can entrust the team in my care, I will be honoured to take over,” revealed Alabi.
“All stake holders and fans of the team are not happy with the current situation at the club, no one wants his team to be at the 18th position, no one want his manager to leave but it is unfortunate with the things that are happening this season.
“Finance is a major issue affecting not just Shooting Stars but all the clubs in the league because of our economy. We can all understand what government is thinking about, and we can’t blame our governor, Senator Abimbola Ajimobi because he is doing his best but the financial situation in the country is making things more difficult.
“I’m not happy, all the fans are not happy. Shooting Stars is my boy hood club, so I’m not going to be disappointed for supporting the team. I have been supporting them for decades, the team got relegated about three times and my support still remains intact. This applies not me alone but all the precious fans of the club over the years, buying tickets for home and away games.
“We believe in the importance of football and that’s the main reason we have been supporting and investing in several ways. My company, nairabet.com made some donations to the club at the start of the season and we will not shy away from doing more to see the fortunes of the club rise this season and beyond” Alabi said.
2muchsports.com investigation revealed that the only stumbling block to the Niara Bet Chief taking over the club is the claim that he is a chieftain of PDP. But it is yet to be seen if the football loving administrator will decide to join the current ruling party.
